Euro League Final Four basketball tournament in Belgrade

One of the most important sporting events in all of Europe is coming to Belgrade; the EuroLeague Final Four basketball tournament. Basketball is considered a national sport in Serbia, and the capital Belgrade, thanks to its infrastructure, was prepared to host such an important international event after the Euro League organization decided to move the tournament from Berlin.

Some of the largest and most celebrated cities in Europe have had the honor of hosting the event and very few cities have had the opportunity to host the event more than once. These esteemed cities include Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid and Istanbul, and now Belgrade. All of the previously mentioned cities have experienced tremendous growth and much of the growth can be attributed to hosting important sporting events. The hope is that Belgrade will be added to that list of global athletic and tourism hubs.

Belgrade will host the 2022 Turkish Airlines Euro League Final Four basketball competition in the stunning Stark Arena. This venue boasts a capacity of nearly 20.000 people. Completed in 2004 the stadium has been home to many iconic sporting events in Serbia and also events in the broader European continent. The semi-finals will take place Thursday, May 19, while the third-place and championship games are set for Saturday, May 21.

The only two teams with lengthy winning streaks are FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, each with a streak of nine. Greece and Spain have been dominant countries in the past however the player who was awarded MVP in the 2021 competition was the Serbian point guard for Efes Pilsen, Vasilije Micić.

The event is expected to bring an influx in tourism from basketball-loving countries throughout the world, so grab the chance and let us take care of you during this unique experience. Belgrade Vibes is the newest extension of our travel agency and event organizer based in Spain and the first step of our expansion plan. Our other two branches, Barcelona Vibes and Madrid Vibes have a seasoned history of success in matching users to their desired experience whether it be leisure, work, education, or any other motivation. Coming from a multinational background, and with years of experience in living abroad and traveling, the company creators have spent many years in Belgrade allowing them top-tier interpersonal connections.

With our long-established connections in Belgrade and one of our favorite cities, it was only fitting to start the newest Vibes branch in one of the fastest-growing cities in Europe. It is still a lesser-known destination meaning there will be fewer tourists so your group will not have to worry about frustrating lines and there will be a wide variety of prices for various activities. Belgrade has something for everyone. With over 900 accommodations, 54 sites, and many tour choices, you are sure to enjoy your stay.

The Final Four is not only important for a city that has a prolonged history of athletic excellence but it is also an opportunity to show the world the beauty Belgrade has to offer and expand the tourism industry. While visiting Belgrade for the Final Four tourists should feel inclined to explore the well-respected Museum of Contemporary Arts which is only a few minutes’ walk from the Stark Arena.

Stark Arena is also located in close proximity to Zemun, a beautiful urban neighborhood. Also in the area tourists will find one of the largest shopping malls in town, the Ada Mall. Another beautiful and lesser-known option for your trip to Belgrade is the iconic Avala Tower, a 200 meter tall satellite tower overlooking the city of Belgrade and the beautiful Serbian countryside.

A thirty-minute bus ride will take you to the stunning St Sava Temple, according to some, the biggest Orthodox church in the world. For anyone looking to add stimulating content to their Instagram, we recommend visiting the temple at night and witnessing the dramatic yet angelic lights surrounding the temple.

Basketball fans, tourists, and all other visitors will find everything they are looking for in Belgrade whether it is an exhilarating athletic event, enriching historical education, a shopping spree, or a calming walk along the river.

The weather is likely to be beautiful during the event as it takes place in late May. Enjoy a walk along the river or a drink downtown with friends. Either way, pack your shorts and short sleeve shirts and get ready to cheer on your favorite team in one of the most underrated cities in Europe.
